XSF Executive Director
As explained in the XSF Bylaws, the Executive Director of the XMPP Standards Foundation is responsible for day-to-day management of the business affairs of the organization. Because the XSF essentially exists as a legal framework for open standards development work (carried on through publication and discussion of the XEP series), historically the business affairs of the XSF have been limited to the following:
- Maintenance of the XSF's non-profit status (e.g., business registration with the State of Delaware)
- Interaction with sponsors of the XSF
- Interaction with legal counsel (e.g., to formulate the XSF's IPR Policy)
- Interation with other standards development organizations (e.g., the IETF and W3C) at a business level
- Oversight related to the XSF's management of the JABBER trademark
- Oversight related to the XSF's computing infrastructure (various servers used to host websites, mailing lists, and instant messaging services)
- Coordination and consultation with the Board of Directors and XMPP Council on all appropriate issues
The founding Executive Director of the organization was Michael Bauer, who served from 2001 to 2002. Since that time, the Executive Director has been Peter Saint-Andre, who was reaffirmed by the XSF Board of Directors in their annual meeting on 2010-01-06.
