1. Download a client
There are many, many XMPP clients for you to choose from. To get you started, here are some of the more popular ones:
- Beagle IM (OS X)
- Converse.js (Browser)
- Dino (Linux)
- Gajim (Linux, Windows)
- Monal (OS X)
- Swift.IM (Linux, OS X, Windows)
- UWPX (Windows)
2. Create an account
As with e-mail, you will need an account with a service provider. Again, there are plenty of choices. The following links provide lists of publicly available providers.
